Admission requirements vary by programme, but KCU follows recognized university entry standards for undergraduate, diploma, certificate, and international applicants.

Undergraduate Entry

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent with at least five passes.
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or equivalent with at least two principal passes.
  • Diploma holders should normally have passed with at least a credit.

Diploma Entry

  • UCE or equivalent with at least five passes.
  • UACE or equivalent with at least one principal pass and two subsidiary passes.
  • Programme-specific requirements may apply depending on the school and course.

Higher Education Certificate (HEC)

  • Applicants should have UCE or equivalent with at least five passes.
  • HEC provides a bridging pathway for applicants who do not meet direct entry requirements for degree programmes.
  • Applicants with foreign qualifications may use HEC pathways where their credentials require academic bridging or equivalence support.

Mature Entry

  • Applicants should normally be at least 25 years old at the time of application.
  • Applicants may be required to sit and pass a mature age entry examination or interview approved by the University.
  • Relevant work experience, prior learning, and professional background may be considered during assessment.

  • Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English may be required to provide evidence of English language competence.
  • UCE and UACE documents should be equated by UNEB where required.
  • Diploma and certificate documents should be equated by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education where required.
